Dear Mr. Furtick:
August is right around the corner and I hope you are able to support and attend the 4th annual “Give the Drummer Some” Benefit concert happening on Sunday August 28, 2016in Durham, NC. We will have workshops from 2:00-5:00pm and the silent auction begins at 5:00pm, and the evening concert begins at 6:00pm.
North Carolina Central University has a long history of developing world class musicians. Drum legend, Grady Tate is an alumni and will be honored this year. He has been such a great role model for the NCCU family. In the last 25 years, we have had graduates who have become very successful performers in many cities throughout the US.
We ask that you consider supporting our cause. Funds from this program will be used to expand and enhance our existing jazz programs.
Please share the concert time and information about the program with anyone who loves jazz or drumming. All proceeds from the auction and concert go to the Jazz studies program. Here are the links: https://www.facebook.com/ https://www.facebook.com/ I hope you can share it with many others. SCHWERNER, CHANEY, & GOODMAN JUNE 21, 1964 - AUGUST 4, 1964
Each year around this time I dust off my playlist that I call "Schwerner". It's not a very complicated playlist. It starts off with Nina doing "Mississippi, Goddamn", the second tune is Ray Charles - "Baby, What'd I Say", and the rest of it is random Ray Charles. This is my way of making sure I continue to cherish the memory of my college classmate/fellow nightclub table waiter/jazz lover/good guy/friend - Mickey Schwerner
