Hi Mama Jazz,
Please share the benefit concert with YOUR fans!  This is the 4th year, we hope to fill BN Duke Auditorium.
Professor Thomas Taylor, guest artist Carl Allen, and some of the Jazz percussion alumni will present a jazz concert and fundraiser in the B.N. Duke Auditorium on the campus of North Carolina Central University on Sunday Aug. 28, at 6 p.m.. This concert will honor NCCU Alum, Grady Tate.  Earlier in the afternoon, there will be music and percussion-centered workshops starting at 2 p.m., followed by a silent auction starting at 5 p.m. Auction winners will be announced before the final group performs in the evening concert.
2:00 in BN Duke New Band Room- Thomas Taylor will discuss “Hearing loss and the effects of NOT protecting your ears, 5 daily habits to protect your hearing”.
2:30 in BN Duke Old Band Room- Larry Q. Draughn Jr. will talk about the “Transmutation of Black American popular rhythm from the swing era till now”.
3:00 in BN Duke New Band Room- Brandon Rich will discuss “5 ways to get your vibes singing”, different techniques to improve your melodic and rhythmic lines on keyboard instruments.
3:30 in BN Duke Old Band Room- Theous Jones will discuss “Musicians & Nutrition- Routine, Set the Mood, & Groove”. Health tips on being healthy on and off stage.  You will get basic stretches and exercises that can be done at home, in a hotel room, even in your office at work.
4:00 in BN Duke New Band Room- Carl Allen will discuss “Owning the Music and the Process”.
5:00 in the BN Duke Atrium- Silent auction (a bunch of great items that will help raise funds for the Jazz Studies program).

6:00 in the BN Duke Auditorium- Evening concert where each performer will honor Grady Tate with 30 minutes of music with their band

THE SHED TONIGHT SHAQUIM, AUTUMN (& RAINA, ??)

Comments below from THE SHED

Saxophonist Shaquim Muldrow commands the stage with a classic tenor sound and a musical sensitivity beyond his years. Equally at home playing ballads or uptempo swing, he is gaining prominence as one of the young musicians responsible for the revival of jazz and swing music in the Triangle. Joined at the SHED by vocalist Autumn Rainey, pianist Andrew Berinson, bassist Gen Palmer, and drummer Theous Jones, this will be an evening of jazz sure to please the most discerning of ears. First set 8 PM, second set around 9:30. $7 cover or $5 w/ student ID

MY TAKE  - THIS SHOULD BE "NICE!"  ED
