Speakeasy Swing, New Orleans Blues, Sultry Latin, Vintage R&B - think
Great Gatsby at Mardi Gras! Vocalist Lisa Veronica Wood, keyboardist Jim
Crew, saxophonist FO Finch III, bassist Aaron Bittikofer, and drummer Ed
Butler present a kaleidoscope of stories and themes from the prohibition
era and the broken, battered, and unrequited women of song. The
five-member amalgam known as Sidecar Social Club has played over 250
shows during the past five years.

My opinion is that Ellis Marsalis' trio recording mentioned above is the number one example of how a jazz piano trio should sound!  Buy a ticket to this benefit concert for Nov. 6th.  I think you'll be happy to be in attendance.

TONIGHT 8PM THE SHED

DetailsTHE SHED 8pm Tonight
The Bridge Trio has its roots deeply entrenched in the New Orleans Jazz tradition. Drummer Joe Dyson, pianist Conun Pappas, and bassist Max Moran came together as a group at the New Orleans Center for the Creative Arts (NOCCA) under the direction of their mentor and former teacher, the legendary clarinetist and jazz educator Alvin Batiste. These young musicians performed with Batiste as the Jazztronauts while still in high school and played with him on his last gig. Their stirring musical tribute of his music at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival in 2007, on the day of his passing, is regarded by many as one of the most moving performances in the festivals’ history. The trio today enjoys increasing professional recognition and success in the jazz world as members of saxophone master Donald Harrison’s band. All three are composers of innovative, original compositions in the "Nouveau Swing" style, a style of jazz created by Donald Harrison that merges modern dance music like r&b, hip-hop, soul, rock, and jazz with Afro-New Orleans traditional music.

MORE FOR SATURDAY NIGHT 10/01/16

PER
 gary.brunotte
Hi,
Many of you probably have gigs or other plans tonight, but if not, and if you don't mind driving to Sanford, we have a great concert tonight with guitar legend Larry Coryell and the Heart of Carolina Big Band.  We had a rehearsal last night, it went really well.  We'll be playing a couple of my compositions/arrangements in the second set.  Can't wait to hear him on them live, last night he played incredible! Attached is a poster, 8pmconcert, $15.
   Cheers, Gary
