Hubert Laws/ Come Ye Disconsolate

THE FOLLOWING INFO IS COURTESY OF "MAMA JAZZ"
Howdy Elaine,

I hope you are well. This message is to inform you and everyone else that my NC Jazz Continuum Project is paying tribute to the life and music of Dr. Billy Taylor. Dr. Taylor is from Greenville, NC and joining me to honor his legacy is Chris Pattishall on piano and Christian Dashiell on bass. Chris, Christian and myself all met at the Kennedy Center in 2007 for the Betty Carter Jazz Ahead residency while Dr. Taylor was still directing it. Because of that, this performance is very important to us. Along with being a reunion of sorts, it's also a homecoming performance for Pattishall! In undergrad, he studied with Marcus Roberts and has gone on to New York where he's playing with top notch acts. This will be Chris' first show in North Carolina in 10 years!!! As usual, we're expecting a sold out show just like our Nina Simone and Max Roach tributes. I'll do my usual presentation on the life of the artist starting at 7pm and the first note of music is at 8pm

REVIVAL AT THE STATION IN CARBORO

THE INFO THAT FOLLOWS IS COURTESY OF ELAINE CROVITZ , "MAMA JAZZ"

Subject: New Jazz Series at The Station in Carrboro

The Station in Carrboro has re-opened under new management and they are
looking to bring back the jazz scene there like it was in the 80's with
Brother Yusuf, Bus Brown, Steve Wing and the many, many other fine
musicians who played there every Sunday. We're starting with Seven
Saturday afternoons at 2:00 PM beginning July 16. The complete lineup is
still being worked on but the first show on July 16 will be Steve Wing -
piano and vocals, Beverly Botsford - percussion, Allison Weiner -
melodica, piano, vocals, Ed Butler - drums, Robbie Link - bass.
Upcoming shows will feature Scott Sawyer - guitar, Frankie Alexander and
Friends, Pete Goldberg - guitar, The Bucket Brothers in a special young
people's show, and a special tribute to the music of Brother Yusuf Salim
and Bus Brown  featuring several rarely performed jazz sextets composed
by Brother Yusuf.
There will be more information on The Station's website -
https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__stationcarrboro.com_&d=CwICaQ&c=imBPVzF25OnBgGmVOlcsiEgHoG1i6YHLR0Sj_gZ4adc&r=zP_TCTvL1jUFEmfTVheqlVSReUpECMz-zAckmL4B3Jc&m=d3EIPrIVrtzjS_En74jbrjmPeFCFCD6iSBO1UH-8bKE&s=GdbdcytKpZwfk1L2dgYOQ5TXlJgmrIHNJK4tgozJon0&e=   and complete info on performers and
schedule will be at https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__robbielink.com_content_jazz-2Dstation-2D8&d=CwICaQ&c=imBPVzF25OnBgGmVOlcsiEgHoG1i6YHLR0Sj_gZ4adc&r=zP_TCTvL1jUFEmfTVheqlVSReUpECMz-zAckmL4B3Jc&m=d3EIPrIVrtzjS_En74jbrjmPeFCFCD6iSBO1UH-8bKE&s=v-q47le7zTyY8RKfXoaV1QDL99Kn45mf8f7wHHP-Z2Q&e=

If this series is successful we hope it will continue into the Fall so
please tell your friends and come out and help make it a success.
There is no cover charge, it is during all-ages hours so young people
are welcome. The Station is currently a "private club" since they are
not yet serving food so there is a small lifetime membership fee for
adults. Their website says it is $5.00
