Saturday, March 18th: The Doug Largent Trio
Featuring Doug Largent on organ, and a revolving cast of excellent guitarists, saxophonists, vocalists, and drummers. They specialize in the music that provided the soundtrack for parties and nightclubs in the 1950′s and 60′s – Hammond organ with guitar and drums playing classic standards, Latin rhythms, blues, funk, swing and bebop.
Organist and Chapel Hill native Doug Largent graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill and then spent ten years in New York City playing at jazz clubs like The Blue Note, Cafe Carlyle, and Smalls. In 2010 Doug returned to North Carolina to form The Doug Largent Trio.

GOOD TIME HAD BY ALL 3/4/2017 BEYU
Had a good time on Saturday 3/4/17 at the 7pm happening at BEYU Caffe (wonder how Mingus would have stated that). Good sounds in a good place! Thank you La Fiesta Latin Jazz Quintet - Gregg Gelb & associates; BEYU Caffe - Dorian Bolden & the BEYU staff; the congregation - those who were there having a party - I think that included everybody in the audience - lots of hand clapping, head shaking, foot stompin',appropriate shouting, dancing, etc. The Durham Jazz Reservoir was in fine form! JAZZ BENEFIT IN GARNER, NC 3/18/2017

I'm doing a concert for a fundraising event. Its the Darrell Newton Foundation (music helping musicians). Pricilla Newton is the Executive Director. She lost her son Darrell (a musician) to cancer. Her nonprofit helps musicians who are battling cancer and other illnesses providing support for medical cost. The concert will be in Garner at Lorraine's Coffee House on March 18th at 730pm. Tickets are 10.00.
