If you like Nina and you're anywhere near Durham, NC tomorrow night check out Larry Q Draughn and his group at Sharp Nine Gallery.  You may still be able to get tickets for this Friday, April 29 concert by going to the Sharp Nine web site.  Last month Larry Q and company celebrated the music of another North Carolina jazz musician, Max Roach.  NICE!  Tomorrow night ought to be another winner.

Today would be my dad turning 111 if he was still alive. He was a great guy who was happiest when he was helping somebody! He lived to be 99 and for that I am very thankful. So taking my lead from Ira Wiggins, rather than a moment of silence to salute my father, I'd like to give him some lasting applause. HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD.

Tuesday, April 26th is our final day at good ol' 335 West Main Street.  We'll be closed for one week as we move into our new location and we are SO excited!  Make sure and come by this weekend for one last hurrah in the old Beyù!  Read on to find out more about this weekend's events! We'll be closed the week of the 25th to complete our big move!  We will be opening up in our new space at 341 West Main Street the first week in May and celebrating with a Grand Opening the last weekend of May -- watch your email for details!   BEST OF DURHAM! ekly jam session at The Shed featuring the Ernest Turner trio! Two important items to note for this week's session. 

For a limited time, and starting this week, the jam session will be FREE ADMISSION for everyone (not just students). Those who want to support financially are welcome to buy a beverage or used book to support the music! 

Second - thanks to a generous donor, we have a pair of tickets (Fri / Sat club passes) to the ART OF COOL FEST that we will be auctioning off. A raffle will be held at the end of the session (11 PM or thereabouts); all jam session attendees are eligible to participate. We are SO excited to give two lucky jazz fans the chance to experience the festival!
