Weekly live jazz concert series at The Station: 201 E Main St Carrboro
This week's musicians: ATTICUS REYNOLDS TRIO Atticus Reynolds is a drummer/composer from Chapel Hill, North Carolina. In 2013, Atticus was honored to be chosen as the first jazz musician to be given a full-ride Kenan Music Scholarship at UNC-Chapel Hill. Atticus has performed with Latin-Grammy Award winning Hip-Hop group Chocquibtown, been featured on PBS’ Beat Making Lab, and is an active local musician in Jazz and many other genres. He has a forthcoming recording project in the works; a suite of original music inspired by folkloric Latin rhythms that was recorded in Puerto Rico (Ventana). He has also an album of original Jazz music (EMIT EP) available on Soundcloud and Bandcamp. Monday night, May 22, from 7:00 to 9:30, Nationally recognized, and the State’s premier youth jazz ensemble, the Triangle Youth Jazz Orchestra will be at thePittsboro Roadhouse.
Triangle Youth Jazz Ensemble: This big band of high school musicians from the region is based in Raleigh and is directed Dr. Gregg Gelb. In 2016, The Triangle Youth Jazz Orchestra was selected to go to the finals for a National Jazz Competition at the Lincoln Center in New York City……Earning second place! The Triangle Youth Jazz Orchestra are the first and only group from North Carolina selected for this honor. This year, 2017, the Triangle Youth Jazz Orchestra was a finalist again at the Essentially Ellington Festival in NYC and received numerous awards…..!!
Come celebrate TYJE’s final performance of the season
