Fw: TYJE is finalist for Jazz at Lincoln Center's Essentially Ellington Competition Inbox x Elaine Crovitz, Ph.D. Feb 23 to Greg from mama jazz The Triangle Youth Jazz Ensemble -- has been named as a finalist in the national Essentially Ellington competition  This means they get to go to NYC and perform at the Lincoln Center in front of Wynton Marsalis.   This is the first time that a band from North Carolina has been invited -- so it's a rather big deal.   The Philharmonic Association, which sponsors TYJE, is a locally-based nonprofit that has done a lot of good work in the community over the years to help promote the arts.
